Margaret Atwood (@MargaretAtwood) recently attended ComicCon where she met some young Iranians-in-exile filmmakers. Ana Lily Amirpour, the woman in the photo below, came up with the idea to make an Iranian vampire western called A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night.
Margaret thought this proposal was fantastic and couldn’t resist the idea of “hijab-wearing women biting back” so she offered to help them launch their Indiegogo campaign to raise enough money to shoot the film. As an added bonus, Peggy agreed to be let them turn her into a pop star. Atwood is replacing the face of Madonna and Cher and the posters will be featured in A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night. Upon completion of shooting, two lucky donators will receive a poster each.
In an ultimate win for the Indie world, the film received backing from Woodshed, and is going ahead. It will be shot in a somewhat foreboding small town in California.
