A Rainbow of Quotes: Books are Beautiful

Books are beautiful.

That goes without saying. But we’ve been extra clever at Random House of Canada, and made them even more beautiful.

We’ve selected 30 classic works of literature and assigned each a beautiful Pantone colour. Then we organized them in a rainbow so spectacular that you’re going to want to line them up on your shelves and just look at them. That’s what we’ve been doing since the finished books arrived at our offices.

Can’t decide which colour to read first? No problem, we’ve got a quiz for that!

  1. Just gorgeous: they seem to insist on your collecting the entire spectrum. Congrats on such lovely presentation.

Yes, Chapters Indigo is offering a really substantial discount if you buy the whole set. I was surprised when I found out! I have them organized in the correct order in my office but I really just want to mess them up for fun. But then I’m worried I won’t be able to put them back, haha :) .

      • Fraydie says:

Can you post a link to the collection on chapters indigo website? When I was searching for them the only way I could find them was to look up each individual title.

        • Kat says:

          Hi Fraydie,
Great question! There isn’t a page with the collection up on the Indigo site just yet. I know it’s very frustrating looking up each title.
The official launch for the campaign is Nov 1 so perhaps they’ll have something up then.
If we get a link, we’ll be sure to post it!
I do know that these are the discount prices:
          • Buy 5 For $70 (reg $84.75)
          • Buy 10 For $120 (reg 169.50)
          • Buy 30 For $350 (reg 508.50)
          Hope that helps somewhat!

  2. Teresa Salvatore says:

What a fabulously pretty idea! I admit, I have not read as many of the classics as I probably should have, and the ones that I did read, I read at a very young age. I must check this out and add a little more classic to my reading wardrobe! Way to go @RandomHouseCA! Way to keep things fresh and colourful! Perfect fall book fashion.

  3. I love this! My bookcases are already organized by colour, but this is just gorgeous! Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. Audrey Lawrence says:

Awesome! Simply awesome! What incredibly beautiful books – all so vibrant and vividly coloured! While we still can’t judge a book by its cover, we can certainly enjoy these colourful ones that are so full of character.

  20. SSR says:

This idea is ingenious. I already have several of these books but I still want them in the bright colours!
But the FB link doesn’t seem to work. I did go on my own to the Random House FB page but I can’t really tell how to enter this.

  21. Ramona says:

I am not on Facebook can I enter from here.

  22. Carilyn says:

I am completely enamoured by what random house has done with this set! I entered several contests to win partial sets but simply couldn’t wait, I have all but 10 on my shelf ( I am told I have to wait for Christmas to get my favorites)! What I do have is truly spectacular. Thank you random house, they are even more beautiful on my shelf than in the store :) Great job on the blogs Kat, and thank you for the list of books in their entirety it made shopping for the full set much easier!

  23. Katie says:

Hi I was wondering if the books can only be purchased in-store or if there is a way to buy the whole collection online? I don’t know what to type in to the search finder for the indigo store if they are on there either. They are beautiful and I want them soooooo bad! Thanks for any help you can give me.

    • Carilyn says:

      Hey Katie,

There is a way to purchase the entire collection online but you have to type each title individually (there is a list above). The books are cheaper however if you purchase them in store together, with the online discount factored in you still save $1.21/ book purchasing the entire set in store. I hope this helped, and believe me, I know what a pain it is to lug 30 books to the cash! Chapters does have a cart, if you ask one of the staff members they will gladly get it for you (it’s a basket on wheels and very handy for something like this).

      • Kat says:

        Thanks Carilyn!
Yes, I can imagine it would be a pain to take that many books to the cash register and then try to get them home.
This is the first year we’ve tried something like this so thank you for the feedback, I will be sure to pass it on to the right person!

  24. Carilyn says:

It is a fantastic set, and it looks even more beautiful on your own shelf! I posted a photo to Instagram #booksarebeautiful. I have to wait for Christmas for the final 8 (green/blue), but what I do have on my shelf is amazing. Keep up the great work Random House!

  25. Samina Sultana says:

I found out I am purple. Inspirational and beautiful project.

  26. quotes on following your dreams says:

Good day! I’m really happy to come across this site!

I adore to read and learn more. But I don’t usually
have enough time to read books or long articles. So I have
a tendency to browse around a lot for wonderful quotes.

These quotes let me take in a whole lot of knowledge in a short amount of time.
I have started out a quotes site dedicated to collecting the very
best quotes. You’ll find the best quotes about love and also the
best quotes on life. My favorites are motivational quotes that encourage, influence,
and push you to live your dreams!
