Maureen Jennings has written an incredibly popular historical mystery series set in Toronto in the 1890s. William Murdoch is a police detective who uses methods unorthodox for the time — fingerprinting, surveillance, blood testing.

I’ve only become aware of “Murdoch Mysteries” during the last few months after I ended up by accident on the channel that was airing it until now. It was the “historical setting” that caught my eye first. And then to discover that it had a Canadian setting was definitely another bonus. Since CBC is my station of choice, I’m glad to see that it is now airing there. I’m an avid reader, but didn’t know there were books for this series as well. I’d love to win.

I’ve read all of Maureen Jennings novels, including her Christine Morris books and am anxiously awaiting the second book of her Tom Tyler trilogy which is set for release this November. Maureen’s Murdoch Mysteries are fabulous reads and I enjoy watching Murdoch Mysteries on the telly as well. Have you seen the three Murdoch Movies (Shaftesbury Films) which are based on her first three Murdoch novels? Can’t get enough of Maureen’s work!
