Last night I had the pleasure of attending the first ever Bookstravaganza, hosted by Chatelaine and Random House of Canada. An event that brought together book lovers at the Ritz Carlton to celebrate their love of reading.
Over 200 people piled into the event and there was excitement in the air the second guests arrived out of the elevator. As an observer, it was fun to watch people read the flaps of the books that were set around the event, interact with their fellow book lovers and squeal when Shauna Singh Baldwin and Annabel Lyon arrived at the event, our special guests for the evening.
Among all this bookish excitement, we sipped on our “Ms. Chatelaine’s”, a drink that tasted so good I’m contemplating going to back to the Ritz to ask them for the recipe. You then could get a makeup touch up from the lovely ladies at Bourjois. And for the people in the crowd that had a sweet tooth, there was a candy bar set up! Yes you read that right, a bar dedicated to candy!
The main event consisted of a stunning venue, more sweets and settling in next to fellow book lovers to listen to our editors talk about our upcoming list of books and a presentation from both our fantastic authors! We also had the opportunity to enjoy presentations showcasing the great lineup of books Random House of Canada has coming out this Fall season. Be sure to check out our YouTube Channel to view all of them!
The night ended with a signing and a swag bag filled with so many goodies that they were falling out the top of the bags! Our thanks to each and everyone of you that came out to the event. Stay tuned to our Twitter account and this blog for future event listings.
